Second level – Improvement of Presentation

Includes all of the above and makes suggestions if a better way to present or state an idea or section of text could be made.

This can be as extensive as:

• highlighting a portion of text in which a problem is seen to exist
• the problem described
• information given as to why it is a problem that needs to be addressed
• the solution offered or presented as to how it can be handled to improve the quality of the communication and facilitate achieving understanding of the ideas underlying the text.

In this case, the amount of work required by a text would ultimately determine the rate at which the text is edited.
All types of materials are handled at this level, including:

• technical manuals or reports
• novels, stories
• screenplays
• newspaper reports
• magazine articles
• technological texts
• entertainment items
• promotional materials
• educational texts
• any texts (this list is not complete)

Third level – Complete Re-write

Includes the above two levels and would go beyond those levels to rewriting of the textual presentation altogether where deemed necessary.
